Benjamin began teaching in 2013 at Sherborne Preparatory School in Dorset, where he worked with students from 7-13 years. He then completed a Joint Honours Masters Degree in Philosophy and Politics from the University of Edinburgh with an additional course in French. Following his Masters Degree, he sought to develop his teaching further and received his CELTA qualification from the University of Cambridge. In 2017, Benjamin taught French at the British School in Colombo with particular focus on supporting IGCSE students. After returning to the UK, Benjamin went on to teach English to adults in London at the Way Language School before turning his focus back to younger age groups.
Since joining Ivy at the beginning of 2020, Benjamin has taught English across a range of ages from Years 3 to 13. He has particular experience in tutoring English and Maths for 7+, 8+ and 11+ entrance examinations and has supported students in successfully gaining places at St Paul's Girls' School, City of London School for Girls, Dulwich College, and Devonport High School for Boys. Additionally he teachers French at KS2, KS3, GCSE, A level and IB.
Benjamin is an enthusiastic and patient teacher, and curates lessons and academic progress plans to suit each student's individual needs. Benjamin also enjoys tutoring online, and has found the use of the interactive whiteboard and mixed media approach to be extremely effective for consistent learning and development.
